WML were engaged by ANAX metals to undertake a geotechnical investigation and provide Construction Quality Assurance for the remediation of an environmental pond for a copper heap leach project.
Located in the Central Pilbara region, Whim Creek is a copper mine found approximately 120 km south-west of Port Hedland.
Ongoing assessment of the existing environmental pond was required during construction to ensure that the pond would operate effectively once works were completed. One part of the pond was HDPE lined so that it could be converted into a process water overspill pond. WML undertook the Construction Quality Assurance as well as the certification of the HDPE lining system.
