Lynas Rare Earths is a producer of rare earth materials and is the world’s only significant producer of separated rare earth materials outside of China.
The Lynas Mt Weld mine in Western Australia is acknowledged as one of the world’s premier rare earths deposits, and in 2023, Lynas also moved its operations to Western Australia. WML provided engineering services at the existing Mt Weld mine site as well as the newly constructed cracking and leaching plant in Kalgoorlie.
Once engaged, WML undertook the Geotechnical Investigation and design advice for an ore processing facilities expansion and new tailings storage facilities.
WML also provided an interpretive geotechnical report for the ore processing facilities, which included foundation design recommendations, design parameters for vibrating and oscillating infrastructure and fill suitability assessments for bulk and select fill utilising the mine overburden.
